Using this method, if the sparse disk becomes corrupted, do you lose all the images?

Yes Ben. Automatic mounting of the image is possible. I've just mounted an image at my sister computer.

Hi;

I stumbled onto your site after doing a search on Aperture 2 vaults. I am frustrated with it because every time I select update vault it takes at least an hour to do it. Even if I have only change a few photos. I was wondering if you have any problems like that. I am also looking for a good way to back up my work. I just bought Lightroom2 because I am so frustrated with Aperture. I still like the way Aperture keeps everything organized I am just frustrated with the time it takes to update it's vault. If you have any suggestions that would be great.

Hi Ben, yes you have to manually mount the disk image but I'm sure there's some AppleScript or Automator voodoo you can do here. Something like automatic mounting of the image when the disk itself is mounted.

Nice post. I'll definitely be having a play with this setup to see how I go.

Do you have to mount the image everytime you open Aperture for the vault to work?
Or does Aperture automatically try and mount it for you?
