Most Popular Stuff On Kremalicious.com In 2008

Happy New Year 2009The current version and conception of kremalicious.com was brought live on April, 1st 2008 and it was an unexpected success.

In this article I’ve compiled the most popular content on kremalicious.com subdivided in popular articles and popular goodies. Maybe there’s something useful for you which you didn’t read yet. But first of all let me reflect a bit about what has changed on my blog during it’s existence.

Twitter + Studying = More Focussed Content

I was pretty skeptical about Twitter and started using it just for status and technical updates about kremalicious.com. But soon enough I used it for quick linking to useful and interesting content around the web and also for not so useful or interesting stuff.

Also I totally underestimated the communicative aspect of Twitter. I had some nice conversations with people around the world which all started somehow on Twitter. And in some cases Twitter helped reconnecting with long lost friends from the same city. And also converting some close friends to twitter users was a lot of fun and sometimes pretty helpful.

Now after 8 months of using Twitter I barely post links or app updates on my blog. This was totally outsourced to Twitter. In combination with the starting of my second studying this caused more focussed content on kremalicious.com during the last months. Nevertheless I was pretty busy the last three months which caused rather rare new content.

So I hope to find more time for blogging in 2009 but the principle of more focussed content around the topics Photography & Design on kremalicious.com and the quick and short stuff on Twitter will stay. So you better follow me on Twitter too, if you like. Also my flickr profile saw regular updates which will also be the case in 2009. But sure enough every new flickr photo will be announced on twitter too. And I bet 2009 will bring a redesign of this website although I’m not sure if it will be an evolutionary design or something completely different. We will see…

Most Popular Content in 2008

Now on to your favorite things in my blog from the past year. I want to thank all the readers, commenters, diggers, bookmarkers and donators of kremalicious.com. You all made this blog an amazing success which I didn’t expect in the first place. So for your New Year’s Eve reading pleasure here is the most popular content on kremalicious.com in 2008.

Articles

Ubuntu Mac File Server ConnectivityHowTo: Make Ubuntu A Perfect Mac File Server And Time Machine Volume
The most successful article in 2008 on my blog. It was discussed, linked to and commented numerous times. Also thank you to all testers who made this tutorial rather universal and applicable to a lot of different Ubuntu configurations. In the article you’ll also find my Server Display icon release which isn’t listed on my goodies page.

cssText-Shadow Exposed: Make cool and clever text effects with css text-shadow
A long article about just a single css property which isn’t supported in the main browsers yet. Nonsense and geeky? You thought different and liked this article very much.

The kremalicious ParallaxShowcasing the CSS Parallax Effect: 12+1 Creative Usages
This effect made popular by clearleft in 2008 took much attention and meanwhile there’s even a nice jquery plugin for this. My showcase article about 13 websites using this effect was popular too and you pointed out more parallax usages in the comments under the article. Nice!

Coffee Cup Icon by kremaliciousThe Finest Coffee Cups – Most Incredible Coffee Icons On The Web
Another popular showcase article which came along with the release of my Coffee Cup Icons. As the title says it’s a showcase of beautiful coffee icons around the web.

Goodies

The Goodies section on kremalicious.com was the most popular page right after the homepage. In 2008 I’ve released some icons and wallpapers as goodies on kremalicious.com and it seems you like them very much. Here’re the top three goodies on kremalicious.com according to the download statistics:

Icy Box IconsIcy Box Icons
My external hard drive icons initially made for a friend but released publicly. Seems it was a good decision to release them since it was the most popular goodie in 2008 on kremalicious.com

Camera Obscura ApertureNiépce’s Camera Obscura Icons
One of the most popular articles and one of the most popular goodie is my Camera Obscura stuff. 7 replacement icons for Aperture and iPhoto.

Aperture File TypesAperture File Types
22 filetype icons for all the RAW files Aperture can handle and it seems you all were pretty bored with the generic image file icons ;-)

And that’s it! Hope you enjoyed my various stuff written and released in 2008 and I’m looking forward to have you as a reader of kremalicious.com also in 2009. Just grab my RSS-feed or/and follow me on Twitter or maybe you want to check out my flickr profile.

Happy New Year everyone!
